As important as it is for Education to be controlled locally, there must be standards across the United States of America in order for us to be able to back up the statement "An American Education", or "The American Education System". This includes not only teaching standards, but also accessibility standards. Our focus has been on Special Education, and accessibility to education, but we don't really look at global financing of education. I'm the last person to desire Socialism, yet, for education, that's what's required. There are still schools that no one wants to attend and no one wants to teach. These schools are underfunded, and the kids are segregated an under educated. There must be a solution to this problem, and for teachers, money is one answer. If you can lure great teachers there with more benefits and support, create smaller classrooms and provide tutors in areas where kids are loathe to learn, there can be hope infused into hopeless situations. But taking only what resources are in a local community to try to improved an impoverished area is impractical, and absorbing resources in a local community where there is already community support and surrounded by success creating an almost private-school environment is also not fair to all. If we make the statement "US Educators" then we need to back it up!
